First, a big THANKS to the doll-like Lizzie of Pretty Ugly who introduced me to this series way back 2011. 😀
These books are among the first batch of ebooks I loaded into my then-new Kindle, but has sadly stayed unread until lately. I actually started to read A Game of Thrones back then but for some reason it just would not hold my interest, dunno why. 😮 So I moved on, read hundreds of books and let it languish in the Kindle unread.
After finishing my reading challenge absurdly early, I found myself at a loss as to what to read next. After browsing all the unread books in the Kindle (and there were hundreds still), I decided to give A Game of Thrones another chance. I even started from scratch again though I was already 4% into it when I lost interest and stopped reading before. You could say I was damn frustrated when I tweeted about it:
And from there, I became enthralled with the world of Westeros and its various inhabitants. Now, I am not so obtuse as to be unaware that this has a TV series adaptation, which is currently in its third season. In fact, I look up images of the characters as I read about them to flesh out the story. I even watched a couple of episodes of the first season, but it messed up my mind as I was reading the second book then so I stopped there for the meantime. Though quite intriguing, I am withholding truly watching until I have finished at least the third book. So yeah, I don’t want spoilers and surprises. 😉
Currently I am around 12% into A Storm of Swords, the third book in the series. I am looking forward to finishing all five books though there is still no definite release date for the sixth book.
How about you, have you read or watched the series? 🙂
I haven’t watched the series yet, but I’m more curious about the books. I’ll probably read it when the author is done with the series. 🙂
It’ll take you a few more years then sis, irregular kasi ang intervals ng release ng books in the series eh. 😉 Tentative pa yung release ng next book next year.
I’m also intrigued about Game of Thrones… might as well get a copy and start reading.
Go sis! It’s worth your time (and effort I must say) reading. Nakakabitin nga lang pag hindi sunod-sunod mo babasahin. 😀
How many books are published already? (As if I have a plan of buying the whole series one time, big time!) Haha!
5 books out of the intended 7 sis. 🙂 The sixth book is tentatively slated for release next year.
I see… Just like HP, I started reading when the 5 books are already out and got hooked. I pre-ordered the last two and even missed my MBA class on the date of release. Hehe
You got hooked indeed. 😀 What really got me hooked to GoT is the fact that it feels like I’m reading an exciting historical novel even though it’s touted as of the fantasy genre. It’s just that realistic, fantastical elements notwithstanding. Sometimes I can even delude myself into thinking dragons really do exist. 😛
Wow! Exciting! Need to schedule a visit to the book store. 😉
Go sis! And I sincerely hope they don’t disappoint. 🙂
I love the
Ooopps! Haha. My first reply was incomplete. Hihi. 😀 But anyway, I love the Game of Thrones TV series! So addictive! 🙂
Haha. That’s okay sis. 🙂 Yeah, seems everyone’s addicted to the series. There were quite a lot of violent reactions to the season 3 finale. And I was dying because I couldn’t relate, but I would dare find out why they reacted so strongly lest I spoil the rest of the novel which I am reading. 😀
Weew.. i don’t know why I am not into reading books, parang tinatamad kasi akey..
even fifty shaded, I wasn’t able to finish the story ahhaha. i wish I am a bookworm 😉
Kanya-kanyang trip lang yan sis. Like, some girls are really into makeup and could spend an hour so perfecting their face, but I could only wish I am that matiyaga with makeup din. 😉
Your are right sis.. walang basagan ng trip sabi nga nila.. ^^
Good suggestion from Lizze eh? She is such a bookworm. Love that girl. So funny too. Hehe.
Yep, I should have slogged through the book the first time because I know she wouldn’t recommend anything less than great. Oh well. She is such a doll, ain’t she? And really smart and funny too. 🙂
Thank you for the kind words, ladies.
Anyhoo, I’m really glad you like the series. 🙂 The characters are quite “human”, aren’t they?
Yeah, quite gritty and realistic for a novel touted as fantasy. 😀
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! I need to have this!!!
Go sis! 😀 You’re a fan too? 🙂
haven’t read any of the books yet. i went as far as the first chapter of the first book only since the series had already started. but i’m patient enough to google so i basically have an idea of the characters’ fates up to book 5. manong george takes his sweet time in finishing each. let’s hope he doesn’t kick the bucket before the last book comes out.
I sure hope so! Ang dami mabibitin ng wagas pag hindi natapos yung 7 books sa series! 😮
I have watched Season 1. Now on Season 2, I play it as a background. I have such a short attention span, but people and boyfie are saying that GOT is so cooool. So, I have downloaded the e-book and I have started reading it. 🙂 Book 1 pa lang ako.
I have not finished with Season 1 though I already have the complete episodes. But only an episode or two remains anyway. Still debating whether to download Season 2 or wait until I have finished all the books. Gonna take long though, I am almost stuck on the third book. 😐
