There was a time when I was obsessed with BB creams. Thankfully, that phase has passed. So what am I doing buying yet another tube of the stuff? It’s Animetric’s fault really.. πŸ˜› Just kidding. But it was her review ofΒ this BB cream that convinced me to get one myself.

These days I am more into taking care of my skin than beautifying (naks!) so I go out with just sunblock, eyebrow pencil and maybe the occasional lip color. Not to say that I have perfect skin that does not need any cover-up, because my skin is pretty far from perfect as it is. I just am too lazy to bother with makeup. πŸ˜‰ But I have this soft spot for BB creams, so when my office mates decided to buy a tube each (they went for SkinFood Mushroom Multi-care BB Cream) I decided to get one myself. Gaya-gaya lang? πŸ˜› But I got a different BB cream:

TonyMoly Dear Me Petite Cotton BB Cream SPF 30 PA++

It sells for just P328 in TonyMoly stores but since there’s no branch nearby, I had to get mine online. It was cheaper at P299 but with the shipping fee totaled P411, costlier than the SRP by almost a hundred. Oh well. The pitfalls of living in a backwards town province. 😐

It arrived yesterday and so I used it this morning. So far so good. I can’t say for sure that it’s an exact shade match for me though, kinda depends upon the lighting methinks. But it looks close enough to pass for natural. Here, you be the judge:

061113 TM BB face

My apologies but these are taken with my phone camera on different days and I cannot duplicate the lighting. But you can see the difference, yes? I mean, aside from the lip color (I wore a different lipstick on each photo). I was barefaced save for sunblock on the left photo (why, hello there shiny nose!) and wearing the BB cream on the right (skipped the sunblock though).

My initial impressions:

  • Only one kinda light shade available, so lucky me it suited my natural skin tone.
  • Very little to no scent or fragrance. At least none that I can detect since I have slight colds at the moment.
  • Feels light, like there’s nothing on my face. Truth be told, my sunblock (Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF40) feels heavier on the skin than this.
  • Has a semi-matte / semi-dewy finish.
  • Sheer to medium coverage. It managed to tone down the redness on my cheeks and nose, and minimize my old acne marksΒ but is not enough to completely cover them.
  • I didn’t set it with powder so it kinda faded around the forehead and temples come lunch time. Then again, I only applied a very thin layer.

  1. I have never used a BB Cream except for that one time I got a sample from Skinfood. Like you, I’m too tamad to apply layers of those things on my face except for the really important ones like moisturizer and sunblock. Your post made me want to look for a brand to try. The finish looks nice on you I’m thinking it might hide my freckles too πŸ™‚

    1. It should be able to hide your freckles, or minimize them at the very least. πŸ™‚

Other BB creams I’ve tried are from SkinFood, Etude House, Missha, Lioele and Maybelline. This is one of the most affordable Korean BB creams that I know of.

  2. how about the oil control? in my case I’ve only tried Purederm so far. I’m no make up girl, btw, but BB creams sounds like very basic nowadays. Thanks for posting this review, might want to try tony moly when my purederm runs out (though I doubt I will consume it before it expires, hehe)

    1. Oil-control is so-so. My nose is already a bit shiny (but not as much as in the first photo) as I am typing this. πŸ˜€ I myself have never managed to finish a tube of BB cream, truth be told. Eh, wasteful much?

  3. I have this Ms. Nathalie! It works just fine. I love the finishing of this BB cream. I already ran out. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to repurchase it again. Ooh.. By the way, you’re so pretty with or without make up! πŸ™‚

    1. Awww, thanks Rhia! πŸ™‚ I have never finished a tube of BB cream yet (too inconsistent in using them) but I hope to finish this one. Hope it doesn’t break me out. *fingers crossed*

  4. I dont have BB cream anymore, the last time I used BB cream, was year 2011, and i got it from Tupperware ( former sara lee ). Well, your BB cream had a nice finish.

    1. Thanks Christine. πŸ™‚ I’ve seen that BB cream before and thought it tempting, but I had a couple tubes of BB creams then so I didn’t try. Is it good? πŸ™‚

  5. hi sis,
coverage looks great! i’ve been wanting to get BB creams but I don’t know which one is the best, Maybe you could share which one has the best coverage for you? thanks!

    1. So far the BB creams I’ve tried are:
      – Missha Perfect Cover no. 23
      – Etude House Magic BB cream
      – Lioele Beyond the Solution
      – SkinFood Mushroom Muti-care BB cream

Lioele has the best coverage IMO. Here are a few thoughts about that BB cream: Lioele Beyond the Solution. Hope that helps. πŸ™‚

One of these days, I’ll do a themed week post on bb creams sa lahat ng bb cream sachet samples na nakuha ko…

      1. No. But they make my already-big pores look even bigger. Hindi din kasi masyado even yung texture ng skin ko. Basta weird sya sakin.

  7. Whoa, that’s certainly worth trying given the affordable price! Thanks for making a post about this, I’m actually running out of my Etude House BB Cream, which is priced twice more than TonyMoly’s.. By the way, I love the arch of your eyebrows πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Madz! πŸ™‚ It really is worth trying out for that price, though of course our skins all react differently to the same products so take a pinch of salt too with my recommendation. πŸ˜‰

I can only wish both my eyebrows have that same arch; as it is my left brow arcs higher than that giving me a default suplada look. πŸ˜›

  8. Lately I realized that Korean brands suit my skin-type best. I get break-outs if I switch to local brands. My BB cream is from Etude (a bit pricey) but I like it naman although I rarely use it.

  9. grabe, SF is very costly. You should have bought a lot para sulit πŸ™‚ And this is a Korean brand pala. πŸ™‚ that’s why maganda siya. I only use BBcreams seen on drugstores but planning to try tinted moisturizer (still BB cream) perhaps Maybelline stick bb cream πŸ™‚

    1. Yeah, medyo mataas nga yung SF nya. Unfortunately wala na ko iba magustuhan sa items nya para masulit yun. 😐 Sa drugstore brands, Maybelline pa lang na-try ko. Okay naman, but i like this better. πŸ™‚

        1. Italian? I have not heard of them before you mentioned it… (sabay research) πŸ˜€ But they’ve been around for more than a coupla years now. CC cream na nauuso ngayon, I think. πŸ˜‰

          1. Nah, who needs BB creams and CC creams when you’ve got those mad kitchen skills? You’re better off with the flour and pastries, you don’t need makeup anyway since you’re already pretty. πŸ™‚

    2. wahh. muntik na po akong maniwala ate πŸ˜› well baking is just a hobby πŸ˜› i’ll be working din soon πŸ™‚

after this color correcting cream, meron din palang dynamic do-all or DD cream :O tas may nabasa pa po akong meron din daw EE at FF >:D sareh eh πŸ˜›

    1. Thanks sis! πŸ™‚ Yeah, unfortunately most BB creams tend to have only light shades even if they claim to blend into the skin tone. But I think there are a coupla brands with darker shades, Missha and Etude House if I’m not mistaken. πŸ˜‰

  10. Sis is this the effect on your skin after using the labelle rejuv set? I read kc from ur previous post when you started the rejuvenating and all the peeling. Im kinda curious since i also want to purchase the set. πŸ™‚

    1. Yes sis, but take note that I did not use it for a month straight as intended. Some things came up and I kinda ran around under the sun so I stopped for fear of burning my skin. 😐 But it did improve my skin even after just two weeks of using it.

    1. Thanks Miss Rowena! πŸ™‚ Even if you double the price though, it would still be cheaper than most other BB creams. Still, I’m not complaining about it being only 30 mL as I have not finished a full 50 mL tube of BB cream ever.
