I’ve been making a list of the things they don’t teach you at school. They don’t teach you how to love somebody. They don’t teach you how to be famous. They don’t teach you how to be rich or how to be poor. They don’t teach you how to walk away from someone you don’t love any longer. They don’t teach you how to know what’s going on in someone else’s mind. They don’t teach you what to say to someone who’s dying. They don’t teach you anything worth knowing.
Neil Gaiman’s words hit home. The school of life will teach us everything we need to learn, and it’s no pass or fail, no finished or not finished pass your papers. Thank you for sharing this 🙂
You’re welcome Jacqueline. 🙂 Life is indeed some ways different from what they teach at school. A lot harder, but definitely more rewarding.
That’s why we are homeschooling. Hehe! 🙂
I’m curious how long are you gonna homeschool Martie? Like, until elementary or even high school? It’s an interesting option, though not one that’s viable for us since I work full-time. Still, I make it a point to teach Francine life lessons not taught at school. 🙂
honestly, we haven’t started formally homeschooling him… I mean with formal curriculum and all… that would start next year (kinder), then we’ll proceed to elementary until Martie would tell me that he wants conventional school. I work full-time also, but our office is within our compound, hence I have extra time. 😉
That’s nice. 🙂 The closest thing to homeschooling I could give to Francine is being her after-school tutor.
That’s great! She got the best tutor. 🙂
