…after I take a bath?
Yes, embarrassing as this sounds, I have not taken a bath since the morning before I gave birth. Yes, for more than a week now because of all that superstition and matandang kasabihan about not taking a bath after giving birth. Geez, I reek. And it’s a running joke around the house that what puts Francine to sleep when I carry her is my smell–she gets knocked out because I smell so bad. 😐 😛
My mother finally relented to let me take a bath tomorrow–but with all the “prerequisite” herbal concoctions and ceremonies no less (see me rolling my eyes?). Got me thinking though. Will my baby still recognize my scent after a much-needed bath?
This post made my day. I was soooo sad the past few days but you got me laughing so hard.
I think she will still recognize you. Mothers exude a certain scent that babies recognize DAW. Parang pheromones siguro. But I think it’s more the body chemistry 😛
Glad to know I made you laugh sis. 😀
hehehe…..I heard of that pamahiin…..some of my officemates really observed that and its for 1 month….eeewwww……But well I am not a mother yet so I cant relate……I am happy for you and your journey on motherhood……cool……And I know your angel will still know you…..dont worry….
Ewww talaga sis. A coupla days into it and I was already sick of myself. Mama and I even had a row when we went for our checkups since I sooo wanted to take a bath before heading out but she was just as adamant that it would be bad for my health. 😐
hahaha! I heard of this. A friend of mine actually made it all the way to 30days before taking a bath! I don’t think I could ever do that.
But don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll still recognize you 🙂
Thirty days? That’s the worst! I’m glad OB’s are here to discourage stuff like that. So, if you’re a new mom and doesn’t know what to do, the OB’s can help you. That’s what I did, consulted my OB on what to do before and after giving birth.
Hopefully she’ll do, and love the better-smelling me more. 😀 My God, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I had to complete the 30 days!
As in sis? Wow.. no bath for one week? I don’t think I can do that. Waahhh. Until 3 days lang ang kaya ko. I skipped showers when we were in Istanbul. It was too cold kasi.
Yeah sis, I so hate it. 😐 That’s why I’m really chuffed I’ll finally be able to take a bath tomorrow. 🙂
a former boss, since they have Chinese descent, had to endure a month without a shower. puro tumatakas sya. hehe.
hmm siguro naman makikilala ka pa ng baby mo, i mean she’s been in you for 9 months 🙂
Hmmm… Never thought of it that way. 9 months inside me oughtta be enough for her to recognize me under whatever circumstance. 😀 Thanks sis!
i did not follow this, i take a bath before leaving the hospital. =)
Good for you sis! 🙂 Sometimes living in the province does have its pitfalls, and oldies having rampant superstitious beliefs is one of them. Especially when you live with them and they have a say in your decisions too. 😐
Oh sis. Pareho tayo. I took a bath after ONE WHOLE WEEK and kept it a secret from my mother. Because she said, I have to take a bath after one month. Parang di ko na kinakaya eh. LOL! And of course, she will still recognize you.
She still did recognize me after my bath, I am thankful to report. 😀 Haha. Glad to know I was not the only one who had to go through that whole no-bath-for-God-knows-how-long thing.
I’ve heard of that specific superstition. Didn’t follow it though. I actually took a bath 2 days after I gave birth and arrived home. Hehehe! Good thing my mom also isn;t a fan of this belief. =D
Good for you sis! 😀
God help me when I have to do this. Bawat kembot sa batangas me dapat sundin. Pero dahil wala naman mawawala if sundin go lang ang mga tao.
