Although I could safely say that in terms of usage I have already broken even with the price I paid for my USB LED lamp, I actually found yet another use for it aside from lighting up my keyboard during my night work. And that is? As an extra/alternative light source when taking photographs at night! πŸ˜€

Even with the ISO cranked all the way up to 1600 (hello noise!) and the flash turned on, sometimes the light still just isn’t enough to take a decently sharp and relatively shake-free photo. And then I had the idea of using this since it is pretty bright after all. And eureka! It works!Β The light is somewhat cool with a very slight bluish tinge, but nothing that could not be corrected in Lightroom. And bonus is since its stem is flexible, I could manipulate its height and angle to my heart’s content, perfect for [small] product photography.

I was able to test it while taking photographs of a couple of products (to be discussed in my next post) that arrived earlier. While far from being a perfect lighting source for [real] product photography, it does provide ample light as needed and then some. Love it! πŸ™‚
