Because I like reading blogs and discovering new things about bloggers and what they blog about, I usually see some interesting stuff and curiosity just gets the better of me. Like in this case, I have been reading more and more about the famous NARS blushes from mrskendz’ beauty blog. In her recent NARS blush swatch fest, I couldn’t resist wondering asking which of the shades would probably most fit me. She replied that since I prefer peaches to pinks, Deep Throat (what a naughty name!) or Luster oughtta suit me. For reference, I am fair-skinned with warm undertones. At least I think I am. I actually have very little to no idea about how one determines their skin tone (NC, NW.. what?).

Anywho, inasmuch as I would love to try them both, our humble SM City here in Batangas and Lipa do not have NARS counters (dream on girl!) where I could swatch them all to my lusty little heart’s content. And buying one or both online is simply out of the question since (1) they are quite pricey and (2) I do not use makeup often enough to justify buying any expensive piece of cosmetics. So what to do to satisfy my burning curiosity? Look for inexpensive dupes. So that’s just what I did. Thankfully, Temptalia has a comprehensive dupe list and I was able to actually find some of them on good old eBay. 😀 First up, for Deep Throat:

Luckily for me, the closest dupe is from a brand I actually recognize. That is, Tickled Pink by e.l.f. Cosmetics. Take a look at the two of them side by side (pictures taken from their respective websites):

There is a strong shade similarity but still a pronounced difference between the two. But Temptalia’s judgment of their similarity is good enough for me. 😛

Now, I found a dupe for Luster as well but the brand is alien to such a makeup noob as me and besides I could not find it in our local eBay. But. I was quite interested in the infamous Orgasm too so I looked for its dupe instead. Here they are:

And once again, eBay came to the rescue! 😀 I found both Candid Coral and Peachy Keen (so reminds of Death of the Endless!) in there as well. And yeah, they’re both from e.l.f. Cosmetics too. Hmmm, this brand’s starting to pique my interest as well.. But I digress. Here are the pics of the three blushes (again from their respective websites):

Which of the two do you think is a better dupe for Orgasm?

If I’m not mistaken, NARS blushes cost roughly P1,350 at the malls or online. The e.l.f. blushes on the other hand cost just a fraction of the NARS, ranging from P199~225 on eBay. Doing some simple math, I could actually get all three e.l.f. blushes twice for the price of just one NARS blush. 😛

So there. Curiosity satisfied. For now. So when I get the urge to finally try new blushes, I already know which to go for and where to get them. Hope this helps others who are lemming for NARS blushes but are on a budget, like moi. 😉

  1. NARS Orgasm is my favorite blush! I haven’t tried the dupes, but it looks like those e.l.f. blushes does come really close to it. 🙂

    1. No prob sis. 🙂 Just curious, are these blushes available at any of the malls here? Meron nga pala e.l.f. stall sa SM Lipa, pero parang wala ko nakita na ganito blushes eh. Kaya sa eBay ako naghanap. 😛

  2. I was actually Google-ing which is better, MAC or NARS, an hour ago. And watching YOUtube makeup gurus and some bloggers who have these huge collection of NARS and MAC Cosmetics tempts me more to buy them, which is improbable for the same reasons that you stated. I’d probably try what you suggested!

    1. Thanks Anne! Let’s just say I have a lot of time on my hands right now to make it as detailed as it is. 😉 Oh, and this is just research. I still have not tried any of the products at all. 😀

  3. I don’t go on ebay, so I don’t know if you can find it there, but JANE is a good, inexpensive brand for blushes.

I don’t own a NARS blush, but I feel like one day I will, just because one does hear so much about them. I’ve swatched Orgasm though and it looked really, REALLY glittery to me. I don’t mind a little, but I was a bit turned off by the amount in this one.

    1. JANE..? Jane Iredale? Uh, pardon me for being such a makeup noob, but I have no idea about that brand. 😐 I don’t know if that’s available here in the Philippines either, but thanks much for the heads up! You never know when I might come across it. 🙂
