So it has been two weeks of schooling now, and so far Francine is rockin’ it. 😀

She has stopped crying when I leave her in the classroom and is still all smiles when I fetch her after class. She’s gotten stars and a moon (for real) stamped on the back of her hands for doing well in their activities. Her teacher told me she’s pretty good at memorizing, but cannot would not keep still in the classroom. She roams around all over the room even during classes, which doesn’t really surprise me much given her tendency to be hyperactive. 😛

Sometimes I still think she’s too young to be in school. She’s just two years old after all, turning three this coming July. And there’ll be two more years before she even hits Grade One. I can’t help worrying she’ll get bored or burned out before then. Then again, with the K-12 system now firmly in place she’s really just the right age for her class so it’s pointless fretting over the matter of her age.

As it is, I am having some difficulty getting her to do her homework. I have to alternately beg, wheedle, threaten, cajole, bribe and/or trick her into drawing circles and boxes or coloring one thing or another. I get stressed just thinking about it. Geez. I can only hope this situation would improve with time. Just the same, any tips for the homework situation? Anyone?

Totally random and unrelated but if you read my blog (assuming lang), you might have noticed that the past coupla entries were posted through the Android app. Yes, I have been blogging exclusively from my phone lately and I just realized how liberating that is. Editing pictures may not be as precisely done as when done through Photoshop, but I just discovered I have almost as much options in tweaking pictures to my heart’s content with the multitude of available photo editing apps. I can even put it my watermark, and with a not-so-boring font to boot too. Not too bad. 😉

  1. I did notice the footer.

Anyway, two? I can’t even remember the things I did when I was two. But I think it’s better to start early these days. Ang haba na ng schooling.

    1. Me neither. But schooling seems so competitive these days, no? Believe it or not, some parents even enroll 1-year-olds in some class or another. Blows my mind, really. And as much as I want to just let her be a kid while she’s a kid, I can’t let her lag behind other kids of the same age either, in terms of schooling and such, get my drift?

      1. I get what you mean, I don’t have an issue with parents who wants their babies (literally, babies) go to school.

Pero kung ako yun, feeling ko, I’d get sad, I need more time with the kid pa. Pwede bang kagaya na lang nung early 80s na 5 years old ang start ng pre-school?

        1. With K-12, 5 na yung eldest na pwedeng pre-school, meaning Kinder 2. By 6 years old, Grade 1 na. If I wait until then para papasukin si Francine, I don’t think she could all that easily keep up, never mind how much I’ll try to teach her. Iba din yung experience nung tinuturuan sa classroom with other kids of the same age, dun din nabubuo yung friendship nila at camaraderie.

Damn, I feel so old all of a sudden. I dunno whether to laugh or cry about that.

          1. I’m with you, parang mapipilitan akong itapon ang prinsipyo para makasabay yung future anak ko. And parang mahirap if, for example, lahat na nung kids magkakakilala tapos yung anak ko walang friends.

  2. Woah. 2 pa lang? Parang ang laki niya na sis sa picture. She is so adorbs! Sorry wala akong advice para gawin niya homework niya. Wala pang experience. 🙂 Kaya mu yan sis.

WP app. I haven’t tried that pa. Though I have it installed in my tablet. Iba pa rin ang feeling na nag type. hehe. Pero try ko nga next time.

    1. Her size belies her age. 😉 She’s one of the youngest in her class, if I’m not mistaken. She has moods (so much like her Mommy) and her wanting/doing homework largely depends on that. I can’t really force her if she doesn’t want to, it just ends badly for both of us. Oh well.

I am pretty much testing the boundaries of what I can and cannot do in the app versus in the PC. So far there are limitations, mostly in the management of media. Nothing too bad though, at least now I know the app would and does do in a pinch. 🙂

  3. Gosh. Salingkitkit lang ako when I was 2 years old. Daycare level lang ako nun and two hours lang un a day. I simply went for the baon na colorful puto from Goldilocks hahaha. We didn’t even do anything except sing and eat. I don’t remember even writing anything. I guess the puto bribe worked for me. 😀 I’ve always liked homework, though. It was my sister who had to be bribed to do hers.

    1. I can’t even remember what I was doing at that age. I started school as salingkit for Kinder 1 then as a proper student next year at Kinder 2. I was 5 years old then. I think I was *old* enough by then to realize I should be in school like other kids my age so I just went along with it.

  4. Ang cute! <3 She doesn't look 2 years old ha! I think it's good to get a child in school early. You seem to be doing a good job too! 🙂
I wish I can blog through mobile too but I'm using a Windows Phone and apps are very limited. 🙁 Try VSCO cam, it's a great photo app! 😉

    1. Thanks Jean! 🙂 She’s now closer to three than two years old but yeah, she does come across as older than her actual age.
It’s a good thing I blog here at WordPress, because as far as I know, the official Blogger app is not available from the country’s Google Play Store. Which I find weird because Blogger is under Google after all. Oh well. Oh, and I have VSCO installed too, though I tend to use Snapseed more for tweaking then Line Camera for watermarking. 😉
