Well, loyalty to my network, that is. I just renewed my contract earlier and instead of doing the sensible thing and getting a free handset, I opted to get one with a somewhat hefty cashout. Ouch. Thank goodness for 0% interest installment plans! 😀 Lo and behold, my shiny new toy:
A more-than-worthy replacement to my much-beloved but already-showing-its-age Galaxy S III. Wait another two years to renew my contract and I’ll probably be getting an S7 by then. 😉
I was supposed to get it in Electric Blue, but unfortunately they just ran out. Bummer. Only black and white were available, and contrary to expectation, I got a unit in white. 😛
Anywho, still tinkering around though I’ve already downloaded my most-used apps. Coming from an older iteration of the Galaxy line from Samsung, the S5 feels quite familiar but more snappy and efficient. And I’m not just talking about the speed or response time, but the intuitiveness of the UI and added functions as well. To my surprise, I actually quite like the replacement of the left soft key from ‘Menu’ to ‘Recent Apps’ function. Makes sense, yeah.
Just a minor gripe though. I thought the bundled USB cable would be USB 3.0, but instead mine came with an older standard micro-USB connector. Still making inquiries regarding that. Oh well.
Oooh, nice one, Nathalie! Teka, what happens to your old Galaxy SIII nyan? And what was the original free unit for your plan?
My original plan was BB Max with free Blackberry 9320 handset. Unfortunately, I lost said phone just a few months after. 🙁 I got the Galaxy S III as a replacement, and as a result my mobile plan was affected as well (since I wasn’t using a BB anymore). I still have the S III, at the moment mostly a repository of past memories in the form of pictures, vid and music. 😀
That takes really good pictures
Yeah, though I’m still playing around with the controls. I dunno know but the photos from the S III still looks sharper. Err.
Hope to get one someday..I still have an old Nokia phone ready to be replaced haha.
I last used a Nokia 6 or maybe 7 years ago? I’ve been a Samsung user after that last Nokia 6110 Navigator. Get a Samsung too as a replacement. 😉
Yup thinking of Samsung now. Have to save pa haha. Is the S3 good?
Yep, it’s pretty good. 🙂 Mine has already slowed down because of the loaded memory (mostly apps and media). It’s pretty tough too and has withstood countless drops. But it has its limits too–I dropped it one time too many and cracked the screen. Major ouchie. 🙁 Still works though, except for the unsightly spiderweb cracks on the front.
Haha. Thanks
