Sunsets are the epitome of graceful exits.
They’re a constant reminder that there is beauty even in endings.

One 48 Photos participant remarked that it would be challenging to shoot a sunset if you’re nowhere near a bay or beach, and I concede that she has a good point. That also got me thinking, how can I produce a beautiful sunset photo when I’m in the middle of the city?  The thought that I need a body of water nearby for the shot made me want to prove that I can take a good sunset photo, water or no. I didn’t have my camera with me so I can’t just go off gallivanting to wherever just to shoot. So as soon as I got home yesterday, I got out my camera and immediately looked for a way I could capture the sunset in a less than mediocre way. The light was fading fast so I didn’t have the luxury of thinking through the meager options I had. In the end, I settled for a silhouette shot of the plants outside against the sunset. And so here now is my best shot. Hope you like it. 🙂

P.S. I decided to change my signature for photography-related posts into that above. What do you think? Like it, hate it, doesn’t matter? Lemme know what you think. 🙂

P.P.S. I love tinkering around with Photoshop settings so I made a slightly more somber version of my sunset photo. Which do you like better? Here ya go:

    1. Thanks! 🙂 If you happen to be in Batangas, please do let me know. We could work something out for a shoot. I would love to do portraits again. It’s been so long since I worked with any models, it would be a chance to brush up on my probably rusting portraiture skills. 😉

  1. I like the first one Nathalie! Gusto ko yung ganung blue, buhay na buhay! Perfect din ang puwesto ng tall plant, nasapawan ang epal na electric wires ng Meralco! Nice shot! 🙂

    1. Thanks Mimi! 🙂 Photoshop really helped correct and enhance the photo I took. DSLR it may be, but still cameras are far from infallible and don’t always capture what it is that my eyes actually see. For that, I rely on post-processing to coax the real image to come out. 😉

  2. Either photo — both are just SO AMAZING! I envy that you know how to read your camera… You’re able to state what shutter speed, aperture, focal length and ISO you used. Cos even if I can take pictures, I still haven’t figured out how to read my camera, haha! See you again next week!
