Yesterday is quite a memorable ordinary day for me. That is, there was no occasion but the day was full of momentous events. πŸ™‚ First up:

Nursery applicationThat’s her first ever ID picture–and she looksΒ sooooΒ serious! πŸ˜›

So we have finally decided to send Francine to Nursery next school year. πŸ˜€ It still seems a bit too young to send a two-year-old to school for me, but I figured it is the right time if we want her to be in the right level for her age since the K-12 Program is already in effect here in the country. Look at this chart I found the Official Gazette:

K-12 entry age

She’ll be 3 by next year and just the right age for Nursery class before pre-school. Given, Nursery is not exactly required nor is it in K-12 but like all well-meaning parents, we want to give her every advantage we could. It should help develop her inter-personal skills with other kids and at the same time provide a transition period for her before actual schooling. We chose the Integrated School of the university where I work for her schooling since (1) it would be more convenient for us and (2) the Nursery class is relatively smaller compared to those of other schools’ so it won’t be a culture-shock for Francine.

So we now have the application form and ID pictures. I filed for copies of her NSO-certified birth certificate yesterday and it’ll be released next week. Once we have that, I’ll just be paying the testing fee and we’ll schedule her entrance interview. Waaaaaaaa! I am equal parts excited and terrified of what Francine will say in the interview. She’s pretty articulate but tends to be shy during first-time encounters with strangers. And she still mixes her colors up; the only colors she consistently identifies correctly are purple, blue, pink and green. Hopefully, that won’t be much of a problem since she’ll be going to school to learn after all, right?

Aside from this, there’s another big girl news. πŸ˜€ Follow the photo sequence:

After some weeks of psyching her about potty training, I finally bought her a pink potty last night. I had it wrapped as a gift though she knew just to make the whole process more fun for her. In fact, she was so excited that when we got home, I had to beg for her to let me take photos first before she ripped unwrapped her gift. πŸ˜€

There was no assembly required since the SA has already attached the skid-resistant “feet” on. Francine promptly demanded for me to remove her panty and diaper so she could go sit on her throne. And wouldn’t you know it, she even peed a coupla minutes later! πŸ˜€ I was all sorts of amazed and happy that she took to it immediately. Thing is, she wouldn’t get off! πŸ˜›

So. After the day is done, I am left with a realization: Francine really is a baby no more. It makes me both happy and sad at the same time. Happy because I know she’s well on her way to becoming an independent young girl, and kinda sad also because of the same reason. It’s like a double-edged knife, so to speak. It’s an exciting new chapter of her young life and I have want to be there to guide her and be with her every step of the way and enjoy it all with her. And I think that’s all that matters. πŸ˜‰
