For the past couple of nights, I’ve been staying up reading. Yes, here on my laptop. The free e-books I downloaded proved to be too much temptation for me to not to read. So there. Last night, it was:
Just for some light reading. I’ve read a couple of other non-Shopaholic Sophie Kinsella novels (Undomestic Goddess and Remember Me) and true to pattern, I found some of the plot twists quite predictable. And yes, a happy ending of course. Nevertheless I enjoyed reading it, otherwise I would not have stayed up until 6 AM just to finish the story. 😛
The other night, it was:
Yes, I also stayed up until 6 AM to finish this book. Pretty gripping the first two thirds of the book, but the story kinda lost me in the final chapters. Or maybe I just got bored with all the talk of the metaphysical and such. But I like that the antagonist in this novel is given more substance and a more intimate relation to the protagonists, unlike in The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons where they were merely disfigured outcasts used by another more sinister antagonist-you-thought-was-one-of-the-good-guys.
Earlier, I began reading this:
I am not familiar with the author. I just downloaded it on a whim, mainly because of the title. I mean come on, Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder? A mix of two things I love, chocolates + murder mystery. Sounds like a lethal, yummy combo. 😀 Who am I to resist? Now let’s just see if it can get me hooked enough to stay up until morning for the third night in a row. 😉
Read almost all Sophie Kinsella’s books. From Remember me to the series of Ms. Bloomwoods story up to Mini shopaholic. Yup, predictable but I like the quirkiness of the character. She kept me awake most night too. =P
With Lost Symbol? I admit I really got lost in it too. =P
Yeah, Kinsella’s characters are all quirky but very relate-able, which makes for an entertaining read everytime. 🙂
And Angels & Demons is still my pick of Dan Brown’s novels. 😉
naku sis, take care of your eyes. In my case, I cannot read an E-book kasi it doesn’t smell as good as an actual book
Another friend has that same issue with e-readers not smelling as good as books too. 😀 Different strokes for different folks. As for me, I am not after the sensory experience of holding and reading an actual book. I just want the words and the story, and not having to deal with the clutter the book becomes afterwards. 😉
Da Vinci code too. I even convinced my hubby to visit Roslyn chapel 2x. Imagine how attached was I to Dan Brown’s novels only to be confused at the end. 😉
I always say if you have a weak Catholic faith, better read Angels & Demons first before reading The Da Vinci Code lest the latter shake your faith enough for you to completely become estranged from Christianity. 😛 Haha. But yeah, those two books top my list of Dan Brown’s novels. Digital Fortress is quite good too, but has a radically different appeal from the two, and from The Lost Symbol too.
