So yes, I am once again on a personal crusade to improve myself and make the most out of my life. And once I made that decision, things just seemed to fall to place.

Starting with my finances, it is just the right time since tomorrow is payday–I’ll be able to practice my new-found desire to finally be more financially savvy. I have finally understood the true meaning of the rule “Pay yourself first” which I have always mistakenly interpreted as giving in to my wants and just making do with what’s left. Now I know that “paying myself” means putting aside a set amount as savings, not as pocket money to blow off on baubles and trinkets, and budgeting the rest so that all needs are taken care of. Personal indulgence is optional, but can occasionally be incorporated into needs, i. e. getting a nicer brand of shampoo instead of buying your usual brand.

In addition, while looking for jobs and other money-making schemes online, I keep finding better and more relevant blogs and articles regarding self-improvement. I guess acquiring wealth, like happiness, starts from within. And finding all those self-help stuff is a sign that I need to be emotionally ready and stable first before actually making BIG money because handling that much requires a healthy mind and well-being. Notice that a lot of lottery millionaires usually run out of their money after a year or so? That’s because they were not mentally prepared nor equipped to handle that much money which they have never had before. And so they lose the money just as easily as when they won it.

This just proves that the Law of Attraction really does work. Not just when we want something, but every single day with our thoughts and emotions. Ever notice that everything just seems brighter and works in your favor when you’re in love? Or that things just go wrong and fall apart when you’re in a rage? That’s the Law of Attraction at work. You attract similar people, situations and opportunities depending on what you are strongly feeling or constantly thinking. We all want happy, fulfilling lives so in order to have that we must first give out positive energy for the right people, situations and opportunities to be attracted and come to us. The First Law of Equivalent Exchange from my favorite anime series Fullmetal Alchemist says it right, “Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost.”

  1. So true! I have watched a couple of documentaries on lottery winners losing it all. Not only did they run out of money but they ruined their marriages and other relationships as well.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks so much too! 🙂

I have personally witnessed a lottery winner live large and then go back to his former life after the money ran out. At least he was able to build a nice house so not everything was lost, but still. It’s a sad thing.

  2. You know what? I never thought about being emotionally ready for riches… That’s something to think about. I wish you all the best in making the most out of your life. I am glad that my post about the graceful exit spoke to you… You also have a great blog and I loved that post about Individuality– very well-thought piece. I would have given it a perfect mark even with the formatting errors. =)
