Flatlay Hack

flatlay hack

Would you believe that this photo is not an actual flatlay photo but a scan? Yup, this is actually a scanned photo, with the cover left open while scanning. I actually discovered this ‘hack’ by accident since I didn’t want to close the cover and squish the binding of my new hard cover sketch book. 😉

By the way, that is a Limelight sketch book. The quote was written using the some of the tools in my post about starting pointed pen calligraphy (Tachikawa T-40 nib holder, Brause Steno 361 “Blue Pumpkin” nib, and sumi ink); the quote itself is from the book Golden by Jessi Kirby. The designs on the side were done with various colored pens.

Blog Overhaul

By on October 2, 2013

Well, sorta. As you can see, I changed the header, layout, widgets, blog name and description. Only the content remains. Apparently, I fell in love with the title of my last post and it stuck. 😉 That, and I was originally just looking for a new layout and the one that caught my eye (and heart) just happened to be camera-themed. So it must be destiny or something. 😛

On a related note, just sharing this beautiful quote I found somewhere on the web:

life camera quote

A fitting start for this new chapter of my blog. Feeling positive and even somewhat cheery as I am typing this, and that is a good thing. I hope this keeps up. Hopefully inspiring me to come up with more meaningful blog posts in the future. Keeping my fingers crossed! 🙂

So, what do you think of my newly overhauled blog?

My little Photographer

By on August 29, 2013

I don’t think I have mentioned this before, but my daughter has taken over my iPod and guards it as jealously as a paranoid Mama Bear. Seriously. Anyway, at least she’s learning from the kiddie apps I put in there and enjoys playing Angry Birds and Temple Run. Oh, and she loves taking pictures. To her credit, she takes decent shots (for a two-year-old) and here are some of her best:

Makes it all worth it

Francine sleeping

The other day when I woke up from my nap, Francine was on the bed beside me. Facing me, she stroked my cheek and said, “Mahal ‘ta Mommy (I love you Mommy)..” My heart just about melted at the unexpected sweetness.

Other times like when I get home from work, she’d say “[n]amiss Mommy” then embrace me. She also responds with a sweet “Lab-yoo!” when I tell her I love her, as well as when she’s on video call with her Daddy. I am honestly amazed that at her tender age of less than two, she can already grasp the concept of love. My heart is overflowing with a fierce pride and love for my daughter. We are so blessed to have her. 🙂
