Oh, what do you know about love? You’ve never cheated to have it.

My rating: ★★★★★

It hurts reading this book. The love between Olivia and Caleb is just so palpable, so potent.. to the point of it being all-consuming and destructive. It was the kind of love that goes through the full spectrum of love, joy, misery and hate. The kind that can neither be forgotten nor ignored. The kind that hurts the most when you lose it.

I think that the first time you gave your heart away, you never get it back. The rest of your life is just you pretending that you still have a heart.

Anyone who’s ever been in love could relate to the book at one point or another. I’m not putting spoilers here, just because it wasn’t really the details per se that made the story, but the feels. I mean, just read that line above from the book. That’s what true love is. That’s what happens when you give your whole heart away, not leaving even a shred for yourself. Basically, that’s what happened to Olivia with Caleb.

This is a story spanning years, interweaving past with the present to form the cohesive whole. You go back and forth in time to piece together what really happened between Olivia and Caleb and in the process, can’t help rooting and hurting for them both. She is a lovably flawed character; he’s just plain lovable, period. 😛 Haha. But seriously, Caleb is by no means perfect, but damn, he is close. You’d totally get why women fall hard for him, Olivia most of all.

People do the best and worst things in the name of love, and this here is the story of the lengths they went to to be with each other.

Currently reading the next book in this series (Love Me With Lies), Dirty Red.

  1. Gosh, it’s been so long since I’ve checked out your blog and I love your new look! I like that you post book reviews because sometimes, I don’t know where to start when it comes to fiction. 🙂
