Lately I have found myself too enmeshed in my digital ways–my phone has become an extension of my nervous system, I work in front of a computer and I read my books in an e-reader. While there’s technically nothing wrong with that, I still found myself looking for break from it all. So earlier I got myself this:
Yup, that’s my new diary. 😀 Well, just an ordinary notebook with a pretty cover and garter strap when you come right down to it. But it would serve my purpose well enough.
And the other day I got a sketchbook too. I used to draw a lot when I was younger, but that kinda faded away as other interests took my attention. Still, part of me never really gave up on drawing so here I am today. I haven’t really drawn in a very long time and I wasn’t really sure where or how to start. In the end, I settled on trying to copy another drawing first. My inspiration: Death of the Endless.
I know, I know. A rather very ambitious piece for someone learning again practically from scratch. It actually took me while just to figure out how to start. But it’s a fun learning process, though a right messy one too. The eraser played a rather significant role and I was using it practically as much as I was using the pencil itself. 😛 Ready to see how I fared? Here we go:
It’s not yet finished, but I have yet to find the time and patience to do so in the coming days. Obviously, I still have a looooooong way to go. But my drawing at least looks like a human so I guess that’s not a bad restart.
I don’t know much about art. I enjoy copying simple animal cartoons on pinterest and add color using poster paint. feeling artist na ko nun. haha. anyway, your work looks great, digital or old school. 🙂
Thanks May. 🙂 I don’t presume to know much about art art either, I just like to draw and design when the mood strikes. That’s pretty much it, if you could call that art.
oh but your work shows knowledge in shadows and lines and all that…:)
For the record, the drawing I copied was not mine; it was something I just got from good old Google image search. 😀
I’m totally a notebook + pen fan. In fact, I just bought a new notebook yesterday! I can’t live without a diary. I blog a lot about my life. But there are just some things I can’t share to the public’s eye! So I really need a diary! haha
True, that! A blog is a personal venting space, but indeed not every little detail of our lives are for public consumption. 😉
